Brother Jimmy's BBQ

"Put some South in yo' mouth" That about says it all. Straight out of the swamps of North Carolina comes this authentic homestyle, make you want to watch a North Carolina basketball game, BBQ joint. From corn bread to southern style ribs, Brother Jimmys does it right. For me personally its Northern style ribs all the way, but if ribs are your thing, make sure to ask about the different styles they serve.

Always a fun time, Brother Jimmys also has an incredible bar with great happy hour specials to help wash down those hush puppies and slaw. Their gator fish bowl is another great way to get the party started if you're partying with a group.

With 7 locations around Manhattan, Brother Jimmys is always around the corner.
*I'd suggest checking out their original location at 1485 2nd Ave (between 77th & 78th)

The Comic Strip Live

Our next stop in New York City is for all those who love to laugh! I don't mean giggle, I mean laugh your ass off with some of the funniest people ever to walk the planet. The Comic Strip Live was once the home and starting place of comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Jon Stewart, Kevin James, Robin Williams, Wanda Sykes..need I say more?

The Comic Strip Live is the perfect place to check out with a group of friends or out on a date. A night at the Comic Strip usually lasts about 2 hours. You're also bound to see a familiar face on stage probably from SNL or Comedy Central and you never know, maybe Chris Rock or Dave Chappelle will be in town and feel like popping in for a set. This is the place to be in New York City for comedians and you're guaranteed to have an incredible time.

There is usually a two drink minimum for the night but I know for most of you out there that won't be a problem. Reservations are required so make sure to get your tickets in advance.
Call 212-861-9386 for reservations.

Location: 1568 Second Avenue (Between 81st and 82nd Street)

This is a landmark you don't want to miss while in New York City.
As Jerry Seinfeld said "When you are a kid starting out as a stand-up comic, you don't dream about the cover of Time Magazine. You dream about the 9 o'clock spot on Saturday night at the Comic Strip."

Metropolitan Museum (MET) Rooftop Garden Martini Bar

Sipping a cocktail in the rooftop sculpture garden of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a truly unique experience that only a place like New York can offer! Located on the city's famous 5th Avenue at 81st street, this Upper East Side museum offers unparalleled views of the Manhattan skyline and Central Park. Plain and simple, the rooftop garden is a must when visiting New York. Now although it is the perfect destination after a tiring tour of the museum, don't be shy to just head right on up-stairs when you arrive and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.

Right after you enter the museum head left, you'll first have to purchase a ticket to enter. Tickets are sold purely on a "donation" basis so don't feel as if you have to plop down the "suggested" donation of $20. That may sound cheap but let's face it, New York is an expensive city and you're heading up to the roof for pricey drinks.

Once you have your tickets it can be quick difficult to find the way up to the rooftop so don't be afraid to ask the nearest employee or security guard for directions. As the case with most New Yorkers, they'll be more than delighted to help! (yes folks New Yorkers aren't as rude as most people think, just don't stare to long at that delicious slice of pizza they're holding..you may get mugged)

Don't forget to take in the art on your way up (you are in the MET after all), and once you make it to the roof stop, sip your cocktail, and take in the finest beauty New York City has to offer.
